The first night with Lily was, well, interesting. Since she was born so early in the morning, she slept for a better part of the day. That is, when she wasn't eating or pooping - she did alot of that too. When night time came, she was rested and we were exhausted. We decided to send her to the nursery so we could get some rest, but the nurse brought her back about 45 minutes later saying that Lily was "inconsolable." From that point on, we just tried to grab a few minutes of sleep here and there. The bed that was in the room for dads was absolutely horrible. Now I know why the hospital offered post-natal massages - for the dads trying to get their backs in alignment once again.
The next day brought the good news that we were going home. We were energized by this. About eight hours and lots of paperwork later, we loaded up Lily in her car seat and headed home. The hospital facilities were great and the staff was awesome, but we were SO ready to take our little girl home and to sleep in our own bed.
By the way, that night Lily slept "like a baby."
